At Home With The Word
These daily Bible readings are drawn from the Revised Common Lectionary texts. This lectionary, from the Consultation on Common Texts, provides a three-year plan for Sunday readings. There are three lessons for each week – usually Old Testament, epistle and gospel. The Psalm is a response and meditation on the first reading.
The complete lectionary cycle presents the whole counsel of God, giving balance to Bible reading and worship. The readings focus on Jesus Christ, as the church year tells the story of salvation. In this year, Year C, the gospel readings are drawn mostly from Luke, with some selections from John. This lectionary is the basis for worship in many Christian traditions.
