Teresa Nixon, Church Administrator
Church Administrator
After filling in at the church office between secretaries in September 2011, it became apparent that church office life was a perfect fit for Teresa who has now been on Staff officially since November 2011. “There are too many things I love about my job, where do I begin? I love the variety from the financial end to the creative side; there is never a boring moment. But the work I most enjoy and find challenging is updating and maintaining the website (thanks to a Word Press crash course), gathering information and creating our monthly newsletter, publishing our weekly church bulletin, and promoting and keeping topic information current for Lifetree Cafe on Facebook. (Yes, I get to work on Facebook as part of my job duties!). Actually, anything having to do with keeping our congregation informed about church life is my favorite. But, I also enjoy supporting the needs of our staff and feel a focus to assist our pastor, so office demands don’t drain him from the things only he can do.”
Teresa has attended Christ Community for 14 years (or since 1998) with her husband, Roger Nixon (whose guitar playing lead him to CCC to play in the praise band), and three children, Ryan, Tara, and Daniel. “Church life has become our extended family. We’ve raised our kids here and have met all of our closest family friends who we’ve celebrated special occasions, vacationed, and grown together with. All that church life has provided us emotionally and spiritually over the years will forever be cherished.”
In addition to church life, family life has been the focus of Teresa’s attention. “We have been a home-school family since each of the kids were in kindergarten. I can’t say this is a course that every family should take, but I am confident it was the course that God chose for our family. Doing so has afforded us a great quantity of time together, not only growing close as a family, but having fun traveling during off seasons, creating our own daily schedule, and allowing Roger and I to be available during those important teachable moments when God could use our lives and wisdom to teach our kids. Of course I would love to brag about each of them like any parent about their own, but sufficient to say, my kids are the jewels in my crown who I’m tremendously proud of.”
Favorite things to do outside work? “Hmmm, I’d say walking to and talking at Starbucks every morning with my hubby, reading, writing, listening to music, camping with my family and with friends, visiting my parent’s at their “Ranch,” maintaining and improving our home, and growing in my relationship with God and others.”
